GRyS Showcases OpenTech Lab at Industry Day 2025

The Industry Day 2025, organized by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), took place on November 27, 2025, at the Centre for Automation and Robotics (CAR) in Arganda del Rey. The event brought together researchers, industry professionals, startups, and public administrations to foster public-private collaboration in R&D&I within artificial intelligence and robotics.

The research group I belong to, GRyS (Next Generation Networks and Services Group), participated in the event by presenting its newly established OpenTech Lab. This initiative was showcased through a series of live demonstrations, highlighting the group’s latest technological advancements:

  • The Smart Fleet Manager and the device for generating prescription maps developed by Estela Mora Barba.
  • An interactive tool for natural language querying of databases developed by Mario San Emeterio.

These demonstrations were part of the morning session dedicated to “IA y robótica en acción: demos y prototipos” (AI and robotics in action: demos and prototypes), where researchers from CSIC and UPM presented their work to attendees.

Although I was on medical leave at the time and unable to participate actively, I was pleased to attend as a visitor, supporting my colleagues and witnessing the successful launch of the OpenTech Lab.
