Néstor Lucas Martínez
Ad eundum quo nemo ante iit

I am an Associate Professor at the Departamento de Ingeniería Telemática y Electrónica (DTE) from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), a member of the Next-Generation Networks and Services (GRyS) research group, and a member of the Innovación Educativa en Telemática (IETEL) educational innovation group, both from the same university.
As an academic, my work is deeply rooted in the fields of ubiquitous computing, middleware systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), adaptive systems, automated planning, and mission management and control. In particular, my most recent works ar focused on the research about hierarchical, adaptive and distributed mission management and control systems for autonomous agents. My research endeavors have led to numerous publications and participation in research projects.
In the Teaching section, you can explore the courses I have taught and the theses I have supervised at both undergraduate and graduate levels. My commitment to education is reflected in my dedication to mentoring students and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Beyond academia, I have been a volunteer as an Emergency Medical Technician with the “Villa de Madrid” Civil Protection Volunteer Corps, affiliated with SAMUR-Protección Civil. Furthermore, as part of my volunteer work, I held various positions of responsibility, eventually becoming the leader of Intervention Team No. 7.
My diverse experiences also include writing for technical magazines aimed at Linux enthusiasts and being a guest on the nationally broadcasted radio show “Internight” back in 1997. As a student, I was an active member of the “Arte y Cultura Digital (ACD)” association at EUITT, now known as ETSIST, where I currently serve as an associate professor.
On a personal note, I embrace the term geek in its fullest sense. My interests span from computers and technology, which have fascinated me since childhood, to gaming, anime, science fiction and fantasy. I am also passionate about sports, having practiced judo, bowling, and participating in popular races like the San Silvestre Vallecana. My daily commute by bicycle reflects my commitment to an active lifestyle.
